About Sushi Style

Art Becomes Functional at Home, in the Studio, at Dinner - Anywhere! Introducing Sushi Style - for Any Lifestyle

Sushi Style is a brand new line of high-end functional ottomans that have the look of meticulously prepared sushi. Silk thread is woven on supple fabric to create the illusion of delicate sushi fillings. These multi-functional ottomans can be used as a single piece atop the sushi tray base, or as "mini" ottomans once the "seaweed" wrap is removed.

Comfortably cushioned and covered with soft micro fiber suede, the frame of the ottomans is constructed of durable hardwood. Handcrafted pine is used to create the sushi tray base.

The ottomans of the Style Collection use vibrant, fun colors to energize and bring about a sense of whimsy. The ottomans of the Signature Collection are characterized by the clean lines of the embroidered logo for a sophisticated, elegant look. Child-sized ottomans, beanbags, dolls and more are found in the Sushiami Line.

Created by Atlanta-based graphic designer and Portfolio Center teacher, Mimi Tin, the Sushi Style collection has been 10 years in the making. Mimi was inspired by the excitement of the Pop Art movement and Claes Oldenburg's use of iconic American food and everyday objects in his grand scale 3-D installations.

"I love the humor and emotion evoked when common everyday objects are presented in such a different context and become larger than life," says Mimi. "My line of ottomans evolved naturally through the fusion of my Asian background and my quirky personality. Sushi lends itself to my appreciation of beauty and aesthetics through its beautiful presentation of shapes and colors, and as furniture, captures the laughter and energy of my personal life."
